Edwin Otero is the Chief Engineer at Wells Community Academy High School. He is responsible for all facility aspects in regards to any mechanical and equipment on site. He work closely with the principal to insure that the building is a safe and comfortable space which promotes learning and growth for our
students. He also coordinates and advises on all construction projects at Wells. He is currently working
on the much anticipated Wells Field of Hope project. He oversee any outside contractors providing
mechanical services in the building. He also works closely with the custodial team to insure the
cleanliness of the building. He meets daily with the lunch room manager and assists with any needs or
repairs pertaining to the facility. He handles all work orders needed by all faculty and staff, to provide them with a comfortable and safe work environment.
Mr. Otero is a product of the Chicago Public School System and was born and raised in the neighborhood. He is also an alumni of Wells H.S. and began his career at Wells as a school aide, and baseball coach, changing over to security then quickly to security supervisor for 16 years. At that time he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of school safety and hiring of the security staff and supervising the parent volunteer team. He then became an engineer and moved throughout the public school system as an engineer before returning to Wells and becoming the Chief engineer. His dedication to the students and the school is unwavering, as he sees himself in them.
He’s dedicated to giving them and the faculty and staff 100% each and every day. He has worked for CPS for 26 years. All but 7 years have been at Wells. He is proud to be a product of our community and hope to see it improve and grow every day.
