Special Education Teacher
My name is Mrs. Darling Bello. This is my 11th year teaching. 3 years currently with Chicago Public School and 8 years prior at The Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School at University of Chicago.
I was born in Monrovia Liberia. In 1987 I transitioned to the United States to study where I’ve earned a master’s degree at National- Louis University in Special Education and a second master’s degree at Roosevelt University in Community Counseling.
As a foreigner, education has always come first follow by family. My husband Fatai and I have been married for 14th years and have two children; Qudus 13, and Saminat 7. Both children attend South Loop Elementary School.
My teaching philosophy is very simple: students do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care. I show my caring by forming relationships with my students and trying to help them find their dreams and strengths so they can believe in themselves the way I believe in them.
