Final Senior Meeting
Thursday, May 4
On Friday, March 17, apart from waves of green because of St. Patrick's day, there was also shocks of purple across the auditorium, mostly on people's head - purple hair - Joselin Garcia's favorite color. The entire school and community members came together in solidarity to raise funds for Joselin Garcia, Wells High School junior, who is battling leukemia for the second time. Teachers, students and community members shaved or donated their hair on stage as funds kept pouring into the GoFundMe page that has been set up for Jocelin. Mrs. Seiler, Wells Music Teacher, opened up the event by reminding everyone that we are family, and this school is our second home, and what do we do when one of our own gets sick? We band together and support them. Our fabulous partners at Havas Worldwide and Funk's Barbershop not only raised funds for this event, but participated in the process by donating funds, shaving heads, donating hair cutting services and are doing other events at their site to raise funds for Joselin. What we have been witnessing has been overwhelming with the outpouring of support that unites everyone in the singular cause of love.

After their makeover, our seniors will be featured in a red carpet event on the Chicago Edition of "Say Yes to Prom." The announcement was a surprise to members of the Wells family, who were overjoyed at the news and the opportunities that the field will provide for our school and students. With the unwavering support and dedication from members of the Wells family, our dream has now become a reality!
We will break ground in the Spring of 2017 with the project completed and the field ready to host all future games effective Fall 2017. The students will come back to school from their summers, and their brand new athletic field will be waiting for them ready to see them triumph. #WellsRaidersPride
